A NOTE FROM CREFC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR LISA PENDERGAST

Download the September 2023 DEI Newsletter

CREFC’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee was launched in June 2020 and has evolved over the years with a growing number of CREFC member participants all with a keen focus on being instruments of change within our industry and throughout the U.S. CREFC’s DEI Committee initiatives are designed to highlight and address discrimination, biases, differences of opinion, and marginalization issues, with the ultimate goal of creating a culture of respect and inclusion for employees from all backgrounds. These initiatives can take many forms, from ensuring equity in opportunity and advancement to building inclusive leaders and teams.

CREFC’s four DEI Subcommittees: CREFC’s DEI Subcommittees are comprised of hundreds of member volunteers committed to making progress toward CREFC’s vision of developing policies and programs that promote workplace diversity and inclusion and foster a culture that ensures that every voice is welcomed, heard, and respected. As a trade association, CREFC has a strong mandate to incorporate minority voices in all that we do, including on our panels and discussion groups at industry events and on our Executive Committee, Board, and Forum Leadership.

CREFC’s four DEI Subcommittees:

    • Communications – Co-Chairs: Missy Dolski and Lissette Rivera-Pauley
    • Education/HBCU Partnerships – Co-Chairs: Adam Behlman and Francisco Paez
    • Governance/Best Practices – Chair: Katie Schwarting
    • Programming – Co-Chairs: Nicole James and Naoko Komjathy
I strongly encourage you to join one of the subcommittees.

Involvement in CREFC’s DEI Committee not only serves to support CREFC’s mission, but also serves as a beacon for others to do the same – to get involved and become instruments of change. I strongly believe in the old adage….You Do Good and Good Will Come to you. I would like to think that ‘the good’ here is looking out into the future and judging those we meet with unbiased lenses and open arms.

I hope you enjoy this edition of CREFC’s DEI Newsletter. Please do not hesitate to let us know how we’re doing and how we can do better.

All the Best,

Lisa Pendergast
Executive Director
